About Hudson's Family Barber Shop
Hudson’s Family Barber Shop opened in July 1989. Current owners Byron and Amy Laakso (that’s us!) bought the shop from Dean and Donna Hudson in June 2020.
We wanted to find a business that could be a part of Arlington’s fabric, while teaching our daughter the value of hard work and community service in a fun way. Hudson’s had been providing Arlington families with great haircuts for over 30 years. Our goal is to maintain that same level of service for the next 30 and beyond.
Hudson’s offers the traditional barbershop feel while keeping up-to-date with the latest hairstyles and trends. We believe it’s important to build relationships with our customers, so we value the personal touch and conversations from barbershops of years past. And we ensure all our barbers have the expertise needed to give all customers the haircuts they desire.
We are also a “family barber shop” because we cut hair of all ages and of all types. When you walk in, we want you to feel like you’re part of our family. When you walk out, we want you to hold your head higher because you have a haircut you’re proud of.
Meet Your Barbers
Gwen Lochhead
I have been a stylist for more than 38 years. My goal at work is to make sure every client is satisfied with their hair, and has a great experience during their time in the shop. My favorite part of work is getting to know my clients. My favorite parts of life are yoga, coffee, and friends.

Jack comes to Hudson’s with over 40 years of experience as a barber.
Jess Johnson
Hi, my name is Jess! I have had my license since 2007, and have specialized in men’s hair cuts ever since. I love classic iconic vintage haircuts through the decades. I like chatting and bantering with my clients, and laughing and cutting up. Kids are also my favorite because they are sometimes more adventurous than adults. Hudson’s brings back that old time barbershop feel, which is right where I want to be!
Kristen
Hello! My name is Kristen (or Kiki if you’d rather call me that). I’m a local gal and have lived in Arlington since I was 5 years old. I graduated from the Paul Mitchell school and I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist for a little over 4 years now. I found I really have a knack for precision haircuts and men’s grooming.
I pride myself on working with my clients to provide a custom look tailored to their personality, preference, and lifestyle. My mission is to provide exceptional mens grooming experience to my Arlington community.
I’ve been married to the love of my life for 15 years and we have 2 beautiful, headstrong teenage daughters (pray for me, y’all!). I worked in emergency medical dispatch for several years before deciding I needed a career change. After some soul searching, I enrolled at the Paul Mitchell school and never looked back!
Working as a barber has provided me with the ability to enjoy taking care of my clients and the flexibility to prioritize my family. And I am thrilled to have found a place here at Hudson Family Barbershop because they understand how important family is. I’m looking forward to this next chapter as I join the Hudson Family!
Deana
I have a business management degree from Tarrant County College. I graduated from Ogle Beauty School to receive my cosmetology license of over 15 years. I just recently graduated from Blade Craft Barber School in Deep Ellum in Dallas. I love to elevate my clients’ experience while in my chair. I specialize in an old-fashioned straight razor shave with a hot towel. Come in relax and leave looking and feeling your best!
